Maja Holinger - 'cello

On completing her school years she decided to pursue music as a career.  She studied initially at the Basel Konservatorium and later at the Lucern Konservatorium.  She auditioned for a place in Lucern and was awarded a scholarship to study with the renowned Czech cellist Vladimir Apolin.

Following her graduation she gained experience in different disciplines of performance.  She played as a member of the Lucern Symphony Orchestra in Concert Hall and Opera House.  She toured as well extensively with the Bach Kollegium Basel.  On moving to the United Kingdom , she spent a few years in Scotland , moved south to Kent and now has settled in the Midlands .

In all of these places she has been keen to play in chamber groups.  As a member of the Landor Trio, she recorded Victorian and Edwardian music.  More recently she has been a member of Quattricelli and Red Barn Cellos which commissioned and premiered Howard Blake’s evocative piece “Sleepwalking” for eight ‘cellos and soprano, as well as working extensively with “felice” where she plays with David Oliver (flute) and Alan Etherden (piano).
